Congleton Youth Orchestra Open Day


Congleton Youth Orchestra's next Open Day will be on Saturday 20th June, 9.30am - 12pm.
Have you been learning an instrument and want to make music with other young musicians?
Congleton Youth Orchestra would like to invite you to come along to see what it's like to play in an ensemble. The orchestra has approximately 100 members (including the training groups), and perform three concerts a year in Congleton Town Hall, along with other venues by invitation.

NYO Creative Music Day

A day of musical exploration!

There is a free NYO Creative Music Day at Litherland High School, Sefton, Liverpool on Sunday 5 July 2015.

It will be a packed day of musical exploration, working closely with NYO Inspire Orchestra musicians and Associate Conductor Duncan Ward. This is for musicians aged 13-19 who are playing at grade 5 or above.

LMT Young Composers to Feature at National Festival!

Two multi-talented members of the LMT Percussion Ensemble, Matthew Brett & Josh Savage, have had their latest works selected for the 'New Music Stage' at the Music for Youth National Festival which will be held at Birmingham Conservatoire on the 11th June 2015.
The LMT Percussion Ensemble recently performed Matthew Brett's "Relajar" & Josh Savage's piece "8 Nights a Week" at Sheffield's City Hall as part of a Music for Youth Primary Prom.
The LMT Percussion Ensemble will be joined by members of the Birmingham Conservatoire Percussion Department for the performance on 11th June.

Big Bands Join Forces!

The LMT Big Band were delighted to welcome the University of Minnesota, Morris Big Band to Sandbach this weekend. 

The two ensembles joined forces for a rehearsal on the afternoon of Sunday 17th May as part of the University's tour to England. The University of Minnesota, Morris Big Band was directed by Jason Squinobal and accompanied by Simon Tillier who also directs the University's Wind Band.

The world's greatest orchestra of teenagers is calling for talented and committed musicians to audition to join a truly 21st-century orchestra.

The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain comprises of 164 musicians aged 13 - 19 years old, from a variety of backgrounds and from every corner of the UK. We welcome applications from musicians who play to Grade 8 distinction or equivalent standard, have a passion for orchestral music, a taste for adventure and great team spirit.  We are also recruiting talented teenage composers for a year of immersion in orchestral and creative opportunities.

Primary School Brass Band – exciting news!

We are delighted to announce that Nigel Birch, the director of the LMT Primary School Brass Band, has arranged for top-quality tutors to attend the next rehearsal on Saturday 25th April.

There will be a Masterclass led by Mark Wilkinson, Principal Cornet of The Foden's Band, accompanied by his team of tutors from The Foden's Band.

This will take place in the Maxwell Davies Centre at Sandbach Boys School. The session will begin as normal at 10.30am but will end a little later at 1.30pm.

It will cover Warm Ups, Breathing, Posture, Practice Suggestions, Solo Performing and all technical aspects relating to performance. There will be small group sessions and whole band sessions, and also an open forum for you to ask any questions.
